Quem é Lauren Spencer-Smith?

Em 28 de setembro de 2003, Lauren nasceu em Portsmouth, Inglaterra, e cresceu na Colúmbia Britânica, Canadá. Apesar de ter apenas 18 anos atualmente, a artista é cantora, compositora, musicista, YouTuber e influenciadora de mídia social.

How did your history with music begin?

Yeah, I mean just from a very, very young age, I've always been extremely drawn to music. I didn't really grow up in a musical family. I would just literally know the words to a whole song on the radio, and my parents would be like “what the heck like how does she know all the words?” I was just so drawn to sounds and instruments, and as I got older, my parents realized I was super into it and knew by me instruments. And, you know, CD players and karaoke machines and I was like perform in the living room and

All the little wanting to be a superstar little girl things and I would want to just join all the competitions around town and the talent shows and I perform in all of them and my parents were just like super supportive and letting me do whatever I wanted. And when I was eleven I entered a competition to sing with Keith Urban and I ended up singing with a helmet like this huge country music festival where I live in front of like 20,000 people and that was kind of like the moment of me realizing OK I want to do this the rest of my life.

And my parents, realizing, OK, we think our daughter can sing. Maybe we should take it more serious than she just likes to join the talent show and we like uploaded that to YouTube and for like the next couple years I would just enter local competitions and post online and then I had this random video that just like blew up when I was 15 on Facebook and that was kind of where I got my start and like my falling on Instagram and Facebook. And you know year after that I went on American Idol.

And TikTok and Instagram and all that stuff was a little more popular and I was on it a lot more and I just kind of gained a presence on all of those social media platforms and started writing. Released my first original song like Last July and then broke fingers, crossed a couple months later and released that too. And kind of the rest is history.

I want to know more about your success “Fingers Crossed”. Did you remember how was the reaction when you realized it became a hit? What was your inspiration for this music?

Hit yeah, I mean I was like so overwhelmed the first day it had like I think like 10 million streams in like 12 hours. And you know before take me months to get to 10 million.

Streams and like a lot a lot. A lot of effort and so instantly. I was overwhelmed and just so excited and freaking out and people were telling me and I was like, Oh my goodness, this is so insane. But the inspiration of the song was I months after I was with this other dude. I met my boyfriend, who currently dating now and he just treats me really well. He's like the best guy on the planet and it just kind of made me reflect to how it was treated before. I was kind of like mad.

That this guy I'm mad at myself for like allowing myself to be treated at the bare minimum and I kind of went in the studio would like to spank the emotion of I'm not sorry anymore and like let's just write like a breakup and really go for it. And my writers were totally on board and they totally helped me nail the concept and you know it was just really about a breakup song.

What is the message through the your song that you want to pass through your fans?

Yeah, I mean I just want when people listen to my music to feel inspired. Whether it's yes, you know what? Screw my ex. I don't need him anymore like he had his fingers crossed or even if it's just as simple as you might listen to it while you're in a relationship and realize like you know what. I don't think this person's treating me right. I just want people to feel inspired and.
